Euplocania erwini n. sp. Male
( Figs 7–11 View FIGURES 7–11 )
Diagnosis. Belonging in species group erwini , with hypandrium and forewing similar to E. siona n. sp., but differs from this by the shape of its endophallic sclerite and in details of the hypandrium. Phallosome presents a pair of concave mesal endophallic sclerites with a bulbous apical process and a pair of anterior endophallic sclerite with three acute processes directed inward and a distal row of spines on inner side, comb shaped.
Color (in mounting plate). Head ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7–11 ) light brown; compound eyes dark; ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents; labrum darker medially. Forewings ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7–11 ) with pale brown spots, pterostigma with proximal and distal brown spots; a marginal brown band from R 2+3 to areola postica, with clear rounded windows between veins and a large brown spot distally in cells cua and cup, as illustrated. Hypandrium brown, darker distally; epiproct and paraprocts light brown.
Morphology. Head ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7–11 ): H/MxW: 3.24; compound eyes large-sized, H/d: 2.3; IO/MxW: 0.20. Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with six denticles. Forewings: M 4-branched, M 4 distally forked. Pterostigma more widened distally: lp/wp: 1.38, areola postica tall, apically rounded: al/ah: 1.5. M four branched, M 4 forked. Hypandrium with three sclerites ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 7–11 ) with deep medial incision and setose as illustrated, narrower proximally and strongly convex anteromedially, with two laminar lateral-posterior processes, about twice as long as wide, apically rounded, directed towards middle, each with a row of spines on its proximal external margin; phallosome ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 7–11 ) with side struts V-shaped, basally fused; external parameres longer than broad, basally narrow, articulated to side struts. Two pairs of endophallic sclerites, anterior pair of endophallic sclerites as long as 3.5 times its narrow area, with three internal sharp processes, and a row of spines on internal third; pair mesal sclerites elongated, basally each with a lateral distal bulbous process, apically acuminate and outwardly curved. Epiproct almost triangular, with three discal setae on proximal area, with lateral macrosetae, with minute spicules and small distal setae as illustrated ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7–11 ). Paraprocts oval, with two subapical macrosetae spatulate apically; sensory fields with 23 trichobothria on basal rosettes, setae as illustrated ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7–11 ).
Measurements (in microns). FW: 3482*; f1: 540; f2: 360; f3:330; IO: 410; D: 375; d: 270; IO/d: 1.52; PO: 0.72.
