Delphinium orientale Gay was misapplied instead of D. hispanicum in most Floras e.g. "Flora Orientalis" ( Boissier 1867), "Flore de l’Afrique du Nord" ( Maire 1952), "Flora of Syria, Palestine and Sinaï " ( Post 1932), "Flora of Turkey and the East Aegean Islands" ( Davis 1965).
