Type Locality: Puerto Rico, Cueva Cathedral, near Morovis.

Vernacular Names: Puerto Rican Nesophontes.

Distribution: Puerto Rico, Vieques, Vieques, St. Johns, St. Thomas.

Conservation: Extinct.

Discussion: Size variation documented by McFarlane (1999 a). This species may have died out much earlier than 1500 AD. McFarlane (1999 b) reported a date of 5410 +/- 80 yrs B.P.
