Remarks. Although Buvat (1973b) published the first records from France, the first French specimen actually had already been reared and correctly identified by Chrétien in 1900, as shown by the single male and mines in his collection (Fig. 16–18). Mines are commonly found in the Alps on Dryas octopetala , which grows only on limestone mountains. The earliest mines can be found soon after snwo melt (Buvat in litt.). To be searched for in the Pyrenees.
