Remarks. An oligophagous species on Rubus and various rosaceous herbs represented by a number of synonyms, which until recently were regarded as different species. It is abundant, and although leafmines cannot be separated with certainty from those of S. splendidissimella and S. auromarginella , we have accepted most literature records as possibly correct. We do not list our own records of vacated mines because of the uncertainty in identification.

All records of S. pretiosa (and its synonym bolli ) are regarded as misidentifications of S. aurella (see Fig 12–13); S. pretiosa is still expected to occur in the Alps (see below).
