( FIGURE 2 View FIGURE 2 )
Diagnosis. This species can be distinguished in the male genitalia by macrosetae on the appreciate pygofer lobe distinctly fewer and distal outer margin of style apophysis flatten.
Specimens examined. [Holotype]: 1♂, Saekdal-dong , Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, Korea, 30.viii.2017, on Elaeocarpus sylvestris, E. Kim leg. ( CNU) ; [Paratype]: 1♂, 2♀♀, same data as holotype ; 1♂, Seonheul-ri , Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, Korea, 06.vii.2017, light trap, E. Kim leg. ( CNU) ; 1♂, 3♀♀, Saekdal-dong , Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, Korea, 12.vii.2017, on Elaeocarpus sylvestris, E. Kim leg. ( CNU) ; 4♂♂, 3♀♀, Saekdal-dong , Seogwipo-si, Jejudo, Korea, 22.vii.2017, on light trap, E. Kim leg. ( CNU) .
Measurements. Body length: Males 6.85–7.1 mm; Females 7.0– 7.3 mm.
Description. Body yellowish green. Head including eyes slightly broader than pronotum width. Crown anterior margin convex, with two round black spots on disc; width across spots about half total width (including eyes). Pronotum with anterior margin convex, twice as wide as length. Scutellum subtriangular, slightly broader than long. Antennae very long, extending to distal part of thorax ( Figs. 2A–B View FIGURE 2 ). Legs yellowish, profemur with AM1 seta only, intercalary row consisting of 17 long fine setae in one row ( Fig. 2E View FIGURE 2 ); hind femur with macrosetae 2+1+1; hind tibia with rows PD, AD, AV and PV with 21, 17, 10 and 58 setae. Male genitalia. Male valve distinctly wider than long. Pygofer lobes ( Figs. 2C–D View FIGURE 2 ) short and roundly triangular, apical margin with several macrosetae. Anal tube ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ) extending to apex pygofer. Subgenital plates ( Figs. 2C, 2G View FIGURE 2 ) strongly tapering toward the apex with several fine setae. Style ( Fig. 2F View FIGURE 2 ) short, apophysis with distal outer margin flat and preapical lobe triangular. Connective ( Fig. 2J View FIGURE 2 ) arms strongly branched; dusky sclerotic part well developed. Aedeagus ( Figs. 2H–I View FIGURE 2 ) shaft short with preapical processes abruptly bent ventrad in profile.
Host plants. Elaeocarpus sylvestris var. ellipticus (Thunb.) H. Hara (Malvales: Elaeocarpaceae ).
Distribution. Korea (Jeju-do).
Biology. The species was collected by sweeping Elaeocarpus sylvestris var. ellipticus (Thunb.) H. Hara in Jeju Is. (same as Jeju-do) in July to August, so it seems to have a certain host specificity.
Etymology. The epithet planstyla is derived from the Latin “ planus ”, referring to the flat distal outer margin of the style apophysis.
