Sterculia pilosa Ducke (1922: 212)
[= Sterculia excelsa Martius (1841: 40) (Malvaceae) ].
Lectotype (designated here):—BRAZIL. Pará: Peixeboi, E. F. Bragança, July 1907, A. Goeldi 8243 (RB, duplicates: BM, G, MG, R, U, US; photo F) . Syntypes: R. Siqueira 8294 (MG, RB, US), A. Ducke 17098 (RB) and A. Ducke 17130 (RB, US).
Taroda (1984: 132) indicated two collections as “ Type” of Sterculia pilosa . These specimens are among the syntypes presented in the original description. Nevertheless, for lectotypification only one can be indicated, therefore we designate as lectotype the collection A. Goeldi 8243.
