Lectotype (Seegeler, Oil Pl. Ethiopia: 212. 1983): Herb. Clifford: 450, Ricinus 1 (BM-000647441) .

Generitype of Ricinus Linnaeus.

Current name: Ricinus communis L. ( Euphorbiaceae ).

Note: Fawcett & Rendle (Fl. Jamaica 4: 307. 1920) indicated 1142.1 (LINN) as type but this was a post-1753 addition to the collection, from Brander, and not original material for the name.
