Bradyporus (Callimenus) karabagi Ünal, 2011 View in CoL : Mol et al. 2016: 82.
Type locality. Turkey: Mardin, Midyat , Mercimekli Köyü. Holotype male (AİBÜEM).
Material examined. Turkey: Diyarbakır area, Mt. Karacadağ , 9.7.1958, 1 female (leg. E. S. Brown) ( NHMUK) ; Gaziantep, Araban, Başpınar Köyü , 11.6.2006, 1 male (leg. A. Dursun) (AİBÜEM).
Distribution. ( Fig. 193 View FIGURE 193 ). S. E. Turkey: Mardin, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep provinces. Mardin: Midyat, Mercimekli Köyü, Diyarbakır: Silvan yolu, Kezban Çeşmesi ( Ünal 2011); Gaziantep, Araban, Başpınar Köyü (Mol et al. 2016); Diyarbakır: Karacadağ.
Measurements (mm). Length of body: male 58.6–62.7, female 63; pronotum: male 17.8–19.4, female 16.7; hind femur: male 20.1–21.9, female 22; ovipositor: 16 ( Ünal 2011).
Remarks. This species was included among the species of B. latipes sp. group in Ünal 2011. But after the comparison of all known taxa it is clear that surprisingly, it is related to B. multituberculatus and B. montandoni by the shape of female subgenital plate, ovipositor with non-divergent apex, the basal projection of ventral valve of ovipositor with rounded apex and the shape of male cerci with a single ended inner arm. Its present distribution does not support their close relationship but the morphological characters make it a member of the same group. It might be very interesting to make a molecular study and to see its natural history and relations with the other two taxa of the group. But it would not be easy to find fresh specimens of these 3 Critically Endangered species.
This species has not been assessed for the IUCN Red List (2016–3). It is found very rarely and its habitats in S. E. Turkey are strongly under threat of the agricultural fields and intensive grazing. Therefore it should be in “Critically Endangered” status in the IUCN Red List.
