Holotype:— S Kp 359/59a (designated by Forchheimer & Stradner (1973, figs 1–5, 7, 8)), Hauterivian of Sweden.

Material examined:— Sample 3001/46, Korsun’ Fm., Subzone CC23 b, Lower Maastrichtian ; Bolshevik quarry [52.06°N 47.43°E], Vol’sk , Saratov Region, Russian Federation .

Description:—Proximal tier short, distal tier high. Apical cone dome-shaped; two apical spines crossing at ca 45° angle, apical spines at most as long as body and apical cone combined.

Notes:—This distinct Late Cretaceous species is recorded for the first time on the East-European Platform.

When Matveev (2015, 2016) associated the species epithet cornuta with the genus name Mennerius , provisions of Art. 41 of the Melbourne Code ( McNeill et al. 2012) were not met—the basionym Scampanella cornuta was not referenced, which makes the publication of the combination invalid.
