Ulva granulata Linnaeus , Species Plantaruml: 1164. 1753.
"Habitat in Europa ad ripas fluviorum." RCN: 8374b.
Lectotype (Irvine in Spencer & al. in Taxon, in press): [icon] " Tremella palustris , vesiculis sphaericis fungiformibus " in Dillenius, Hist. Musc.: 55, t. 10, f. 17. 1741. - Voucher: Herb. Dillenius ( OXF) .
Current name: Botrydium granulatum (L.) Grev. ( Botrydiaceae).
Note: Drouet & Daily (in Butler Univ. Bot. Stud. 12: 167. 1956) indicated unspecified material in LINN as the type, and Drouet (in Beih. Nova Hedwigia 57: 219. 1978) stated that the type was " Ulva granulata " in LINN. It is unclear which material was intended as the only sheet to carry this name (as an incidental, later annotation) is associated with Tremella rather than Ulva and is in any case unannotated by Linnaeus, and a post-1753 addition to the herbarium. It is not original material for the name.
