Malaconothrus monodactylus has been recorded from the British Isles on several occasions. Michael (1888) found it in moss at Cannock Chase , Staffordshire GoogleMaps ; Hull (1915) recorded it from mosses at Delamere , Cheshire GoogleMaps ; Halbert (1915) recorded it from moss on Clare Island GoogleMaps and on Croaghpatrick , Co. Mayo GoogleMaps ; Wood (1967) recorded it from upland moorland, near Malham Tarn , North Yorkshire GoogleMaps , and Behan-Pelletier and Hill (1983) recorded it from acid peat bog, Glenamoy , Co. Mayo GoogleMaps . Hull (1916) also offered 'Scotland' as a locality. In the absence of original specimens the veracity of Hull's records cannot be confirmed. Indeed, a vial from the Hull Collection labelled ' N. monodactylus ' (from Hatchmere, Cheshire) was found to contain an adult and a juvenile Nanhermannia sp., and a Malaconothrus which, although too badly damaged for an authoritative identification, was not M. monodactylus .
