Status at New Ireland. First recorded from off Kavieng, New Ireland and Papua New Guinea by White et al. (2018: 41), White & Ko'ou (2018: 12), based on a specimen (CSIRO H.8002-01) collected in 2015 by longline.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Temperate and tropical Australia to Taiwan. Demersal, 295 – 670 m depth. Marine.
