Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 8 Jan. 2010.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Hawaiian and Society islands, south to northern Australia. Cryptic, in coral and rocky reefs, 0–75 m depth. Marine.
