Status at New Ireland. First recorded from off Kavieng, New Ireland by Parin & Shakhovskoy (2000: S50).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: East Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Hawaiian Islands and Panama, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Epipelagic in oceanic waters, 0–20 m depth. Marine.
