Status at New Ireland. First recorded from off southern New Ireland by Parin & Bogorodsky (2011: 685).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 3.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to southern Taiwan, south to New South Wales ( Australia). Epipelagic in oceanic waters, 0–20 m depth. Marine.
