Status at New Ireland. First recorded from islands off Kavieng, New Ireland by Randall (1998: 64), based on USNM 259114.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East and South Africa east to Hawaiian Islands and Easter Island. Found in coastal and lagoon reefs and on reef flats, 0–10 m depth. Marine.
