Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11414 (1 specimen, 144.6 mm SL, St. KR 45, southwest Ungon Island, Kavieng District, 2°39.536’S 150°39.695’E, 1–3 m depth, 25 June 2014). Specimens photographed at Lissenung Island GoogleMaps by Dietmar Amon on 13 June 2010.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Marshall Islands and Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to New South Wales ( Australia) and New Caledonia. In seagrass beds or among algae, in sheltered coral reef lagoons, 1–10 m depth. Marine.
