Microphis retzii (Bleeker 1856) —Ragged-tail pipefish

Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Drei Inseln Harbour, New Hanover by Munro (1958: 143–144).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Pohnpei ( Micronesia) and Samoa, south to New Caledonia. Found in estuaries, rivers and streams, 0–5 m depth. Freshwater, transitional water and marine.
