Rhabdamia gracilis (Bleeker 1856) View in CoL —Slender cardinalfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken in Senta Passage, southeast of New Hanover at 5–16 m depth, St. KR 118, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell), and another taken on the north coast of Kavieng District , at 6–24 m depth, St. KR 164.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: South and East Africa, Mozambique Channel, Mauritius (Mascarenes) east to Marshall Islands and Fiji, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, Queensland ( Australia) and New Caledonia. Forming aggregations above corals and in caves, 2–15 m depth. Marine.
