Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Lihir Group, Namatamai District by Fry et al. (2006: 129).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 5.—General distribution: Sri Lanka east to Fiji, Marshall Islands, Australia and to the Ryukyu Islands. Solitary or in groups, in seagrass areas and on sand or rubble bottoms adjacent to coral reefs, 4–30 m depth. Marine.
