Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Allen & Erdmann (2012: 611). Specimens photographed at St. KVG19 ( Bagail Bay , Kavieng District ) by Serge Andréfouët on 19 Aug. 2014; a video of a specimen taken in Senta Passage, southeast of New Hanover at 5–16 m depth, St. KR 118, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Endemic to New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Rocky reef and gravel habitats near sand bottom, 10–20 m depth. Marine.
