Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen from off Kulinus Island, Kavieng District, 10–11 m depth, St. KR62, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Marquesas Islands and Pitcairn Group, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, New South Wales ( Australia), Lord Howe Island, Tonga and Austral Islands. Found on rocky shores and reef flats, 1–10 m depth. Marine.
