Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11182 (1 specimen, 58.5 mm SL, St. DW 4451- 1, 12 km westsouthwest of Kavieng).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to southern Japan and Korea, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on sand-rubble bottoms near coral or rocky reefs, 10–45 m depth. Marine.
