Type species: Ornebius xanthopterus Guérin-Méneville, 1844

Diagnosis. Characterised by presence of anterior tibiae with inner tympanum; males with pronotum produced backward, covering base of tegmina in some species and tegmina reduced to stridulatory apparatus, females without tegmen.
