Material examined: 105 specimens from the ocean and sea slopes of all the Kuril Islands and from the South Kuril , Krusenstern, and Severgin Straits (5–85 m) .

Distribution: Kuril Islands; Commander Islands (0–85 m) ( Scarlato 1981; Kamenev 1995, 2004a; Kantor & Sysoev 2005).

Remarks: This species was previously described on the basis of material collected from the Commander Islands ( Scarlato 1981). Subsequently, K. comandorica on the Kuril Islands was found only off Urup Island, at depths to 20 m ( Kamenev 2004a). Our data has broadened the range of vertical distribution of this species, and the geographical range has been extended southwardly to the southernmost Kuril Islands.
