"Habitat in Italia, G. Narbonensi, Helvetia." RCN: 5656.

Lectotype (Lassen inTurland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 481. 1997): Herb. Clifford: 375, Trifolium 15, sheet 3 (BM-000646749) .

Current name: Trifolium rubens L. ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Zohary (in Candollea 27: 127. 1972) indicated a specimen in Herb. Clifford ( BM) as the lectotype, but it is unclear which of the two relevant specimens was intended. Lassen’s subsequent choice is of the collection that supports current usage.
