Holotype: ZMB 9059 View Materials ( Lichtenstein 1832, Nr. 26 sub “ Pomatorhinus ruficaudus ”), skin, juv., collected by Meyen in “ Februar ” [= 17 Feb 1831; see Meyen 1834b: 353] in “ Chile ” [= western foot of Volcán Maipo, Chile; see below].

Type locality. western foot of Volcán Maipo , at an elevation of ca. 10,000 feet (= 3000–3500 m), Metropolitan Region, Chile [ca. 34.2°S, 69.9°W] (see Meyen 1834a: 81, 1834b: 353). GoogleMaps
