Description. Adult ( Fig. 29): Wingspan 16.0–18.0 mm.

Type material. Syntypes ♂, ♀, AUSTRALIA: Brisbane , Queensland, no collect[ion] data [not examined] .

Acompsia epileuca Lower, 1901 : Holotype ♀, without abdomen. Label data: “2996 Duaringa [Queensland]”, “type”, “29”, “2976 type”, “ A. [ Acompsia ] epileuca Type Low.”, ( SAMA, Adelaide ) [examined].

Additional material: AUSTRALIA: 6 ♂, 1 ♀, Toowong , Queensland, 18.i–28.ii.1897 ( BMNH, London) [examined] .

Distribution. Australia.

Diagnosis. Scaeosopha mitescens (Lucas) is characterized by the forewing ground colour dirty white, with a broad deep-brown stripe from costal 3/5 obliquely outward to middle of the forewing ( Fig. 29).
