Type species. Stomyles florus Godman, 1900 View in CoL .
Definition. Transferred from Repens Evans, 1955 View in CoL (type species Repens repens Evans, 1955 View in CoL ) back to Amblyscirtes Scudder, 1872 View in CoL (type species Hesperia vialis W. H. Edwards, 1862 View in CoL ) above, A. florus (Godman, 1900) View in CoL cannot be confidently assigned to any of the four current Amblyscirtes View in CoL subgenera ( Fig. 13 View Figure 13 ), and therefore belongs to a new subgenus. This new subgenus keys to N. 2.20 in Evans (1955). Similar to other Amblyscirtes View in CoL in overall appearance, but distinguished from its congeners by long and thin prominent brands similar to Repens View in CoL , no stigma; shorter saccus, not longer than valva (about twice as long in other Amblyscirtes View in CoL ); and aedeagus about twice as long as saccus. In DNA, a combination of the following base pairs is diagnostic: aly1139.81.2:G1397A, aly140.13.7:A228T, aly2284.27.2:T177A, aly1139.81.2:C1396A, and aly 1294.2.1:T3438A.
Etymology. The name is a masculine noun in the nominative singular, formed from the type species name.
Species included. Only the type species.
Parent taxon. Genus Amblyscirtes Scudder, 1872 .
