Nastra subsordida ( Mabille, 1891) , reinstated status, new combination
Pamphila subsordida Mabille, 1891 View in CoL (type locality Honduras) has been considered a junior subjective synonym of Eutychide asema ( Mabille, 1891) View in CoL (type locality Honduras) by Evans (1955). Above, we placed E. asema View in CoL in Adlerodea Hayward, 1940 View in CoL (type species Adlerodea modesta Hayward, 1940 View in CoL ). Sequencing of the P. subsordida View in CoL holotype in the ZMHB collection (NVG-15035E09) reveals that it is a species-level taxon sister to Nastra leucone (Godman, 1900) View in CoL (type locality Guatemala) ( Fig. 14 View Figure 14 ). Elongated, yellow-brown wings, even paler and unspotted below agree with this placement and refute Evans’ synonymy with A. asema View in CoL , which is darker reddish-brown and typically with several black dots in postdiscal area on hindwing below. Hence, we reinstate Nastra subsordida ( Mabille, 1891) as a species. Because the N. subsordida holotype lacked abdomen at least since the times of Godman and Salvin (1900a), genomic analysis is particularly important to reveal its true identity.
