Distribution: — Mexico (Chis, DF, Gro, Méx, Oax, Ver), Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venenezuela, Suriname, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil.
Representative specimens from Veracruz: —Acajete: C.I. Carvajal H. et al. 372, 375 (MEXU, UC, XAL). Xalapa?: C.J.W. Schiede & F. Deppe 749 (728) (B). Orizaba?: F. Mueller 28 (NY). Tonayan: L.H. Bojórquez G. et al. 2125 (CIB).
Ecology: — Epiphytic and saxicolous in wet crevices and cliffs; in central Veracruz in pine-oak forests between 2250 and 2560 m .
Conservation status: — Endangered ( EN) B2 ab(ii,iii) in Veracruz. Known from three recent collections (AOO: 47.4 km 2), including Bojórquez G. et al. 2125, made at two localities in small natural forest fragments in central Veracruz, which are still under high anthropogenic pressure and not included inside Veracruz’ protected areas network. Specimens examined: 3; TK collections: 2 .
