Distribution: — Mexico (Chis, Oax, Ver), Guatemala, Honduras, Cuba, Jamaica.

Representative specimens from Veracruz: —Mecayapan: T. Krömer & E. Otto 2837 (EBT, MEXU, UC, XAL). San Andrés Tuxtla: T. Krömer & A. Acebey 2541 (EBT, MEXU, UC). Soteapan: R. Lira 28 in part

(ENCB, MEXU, UAMIZ). Tatahuicapan de Juárez (until 1997 part of Mecayapan): T. Krömer et al. 3667 (MEXU, UC).

Ecology: —Epiphytic; in Los Tuxtlas area in montane rain forests between 1200–1720 m.

Conservation status: — Endangered ( EN) B2 ab(ii,iii) in Veracruz. Although known from three recent collections (AOO: 94.3 km 2) made at the upper slopes of Santa Marta and San Martín Tuxtla volcanoes, which are somewhat protected because these form part of the nuclear zones of the Los Tuxtlas Biosphere Reserve , the area still remains under anthropogenic pressure.
