Material examined. VMNH no. 70603; USNM no. 1283231.
Description. Colonies encrusting ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 A). Zooids more or less oval, with transparent frontal membrane underlain by narrow beaded cryptocyst. Gymnocyst smooth-textured, narrow distally and laterally, more extensive proximally, sloping to zooid margins ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 B). Recently formed zooids with small orificial spines. Aviculariumkenozooid complex similar in size to autozooids, kenozooidal opesia large, covered by membrane, the proximal avicularium with figure-eight shaped foramen, tiny acute pivots and spatulate rostrum with a broad palatal shelf ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 E). Ooecium prominent, with tubercular surface calcification, small relative to zooid size ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 C, D).
Remarks. Living colonies have dark-green polypides with pale orange tentacles and orange embryos.
Distribution. Tropical western Atlantic. Cape Hatteras to Florida, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean.
