Type material: Holotype and 2 paratypes in SAM.
Type locality: off Cape Town , South Africa, 34º37’S, 17º03’E, 2910–2980 m ( Fig. 5) GoogleMaps .
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
Remarks: The radula illustrated by Barnard (and re-examined by Bouchet and Warén) clearly demonstrated its affinities with other species included in Belomitra . It has typical long bicuspid lateral teeth and tricuspid central ones. Conchologically it is easily distinguished by its short and broad shell. The species has apparently not been collected since its original description.
