Material examined. Two males and three females, China: Guangdong Province, Huizhou City, Longmen County, Nankunshan Mountain, light trap, June 7, 2019, Ming-Zhi Zhao ; one female, China: Fujian Province, Wuyishan City , Wuyishan Nature Reserve , Dazhulan , July 24, 2019, Yi-Fei Huang ; one female, China: Fujian Province, Wuyishan City , Wuyishan Nature Reserve , Guanping , July 22, 2019, Xiao-Han Ye .
Redescription of male ( Figs. 10–12 View FIGURE 10 View FIGURE 11 View FIGURE 12 ). Body length 7.5 mm; body flat and narrow, brown to dark brown ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 ). Head dark brown, flat and with several long bristles, posterior margin slightly concave; compound eyes small, slightly protruded. Antennae pale brown, slender and hairy, with 20 to 25 segments; basal segment dark brown, rod-like; segment 2 short; segment 3 longer than segment 4; other segments cylindrical, long and thin. Pronotum longer than wide, anterior fourth trapezoidal, posterior margin truncate. Elytra well-developed, length three times longer than width, with small punctations and parallel lateral margins; hind wings well-developed, posterior margin truncate. Legs short, pale brown; femur, tibia and basal tarsal segment with several spines. Abdomen long and flat, lateral margins arc-shaped. Last dorsal segment wider than long, surface flat and pale ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 ). Subgenital plate with circular posterior margin, posteromedial margin slightly notched. Pygidium subtriangular, short and wide, posterior margin dentate. Forceps length about 1.0 mm, with a broad inner space, basal two-thirds thick and straight; basal third with a lateral patch of short bristles and a large inner tooth; apical third strongly curved inwards ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 ). Genitalia ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 ) slender, paramere finger-shaped, widened subapically, apex truncate and covered with small granules; penis lobe divided into two unequal finger-shaped parts, both shorter than paramere.
Redescription of female ( Figs. 13–14 View FIGURE 13 View FIGURE 14 ). Generally similar to male ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 ). Last dorsal segment ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 ) gradually narrowed to posterior margin, posterolaterally with two pyramid-shaped projections. Pygidium near-rectangular, posteromedial margin slightly concave. Forceps length ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 ) 2.0 mm, mostly straight, basal half with several continuous teeth on inner margin and several long bristles on outer margin; medial third of forceps with flattened inner margin apical to large tooth; apex of forceps strongly curved inwards and with a long bristle on outer margin.
Remarks. In China, P. major was previously known only from Guangxi, Yunnan and Hainan provinces in southern China ( Chen & Ma 2004, Hopkins et al. 2020). We obtained new specimens of this species from Guangdong and Fujian provinces thus, extending its distribution eastwards and slightly northwards ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 ). This species is expected to be found in other provinces of southern China, such as Hunan and Jiangxi provinces.
