RCN: 5808.

Lectotype (Boulos in Jarvis & Turland in Taxon 47: 368. 1998): Herb. Burser VI: 14 ( UPS) .

Current name: Sonchus asper (L.) Hill subsp. asper View in CoL ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Boulos (in Bot. Not. 126: 164. 1973) and a number of later authors all treated Herb. Linn. No. 949.8 ( LINN) as the type, but this sheet is unannotated as to species by Linnaeus and is not original material for the name. Boulos therefore superseded this choice with a new typification in 1998.
