Holotype: ZIN 15853, Sea of Japan, Sedanka River, city of Vladivostok, August 3, 1912, collectors A.I. Chersky and A.G. Kuznetsov.
Current status: Cottus czerskii Berg, 1913 ( Berg, 1949; Sideleva, 2002).
Counts: DI 9, D2 20, A 15, C 31; vert. 38 (abdominal 13, caudal 25), three-pairs of pleural ribs.
Diagnosis: large mouth, upper jaw reaches vertical of posterior edge of the eye; eye diameter 7.5 times in head length; the trunk canal is complete, reaches the base of the rays of the caudal fin, contains 40–44 small pores; the pelvic fin is long, in females it reaches the anus, in males it goes beyond it.
Proportional measurements as percentages of standard length (85.1 mm): predorsal length 32.4, preanal length 50.9, maximum body depth 19.8, length of caudal peduncle 17.1, depth of caudal peduncle 5.5, length of first dorsal-fin base 15.6, length of second dorsal-fin base 24.7, length of anal-fin base 27.1, length of longest first dorsalfin ray 8.1, length of longest second dorsal-fin ray 13.0, length of longest anal-fin ray 14.2, pectoral-fin length 27.4, pelvic-fin length 22.0, head length 29.0, postorbital length 14.8, head depth 17.6, head width 25.7, eye horizontal diameter 7.0, snout length 6.6, interorbital width 2.3, upper jaw length 12.2, interbranchial width 7.9, length of gill slit 15.7.
