Type species

Kupellonura mediterranea Barnard, 1925 . Until now, 16 species were known, most of them from tropical and temperate waters. They have been found in shallow habitats but also in bathyal sites ( K. flexibilis ( Pasternak 1982) : 2890 m depth).
