( Figs. 16 View FIGURE 16 D–F, 20C–E)
Trouessartia piscicauda Gaud, 1957: 131 , figs. 10B, 11C; Santana 1976: 84, figs. 195–199; Gaud & Atyeo 1986: 269, figs. 1f, 2f, 3e.
Material examined: 6 males and 5 females (ZISP 7476–7482) from Riparia riparia (Linnaeus, 1758) ( Passeriformes : Hirundinidae ), CANADA, Manitoba, East Selkirk, 2 July 1999, coll. T.D. Galloway; 3 males and 10 females (ZISP 74 87–7499), same host species, CANADA, Manitoba, Oak Hammock Marsh, 17 July 1999, coll. T.D. Galloway.
In the original description of this mite, Hirundo rustica was declared as the type host of this species ( Gaud 1957). This association is considered questionable and most likely this record was the result of contamination. Trouessartia piscicauda is common to the sand martin, R. riparia , on which it was recorded throughout its range, in Europe, Africa, South East Asia, and North America ( Cuba) ( Gaud 1957; Černý 1967; Santana 1976; Gaud & Atyeo 1986).
