Type material.
The holotype was destroyed in the bombing of UHZM in World War II ( Wood and Bright 1992).
Diagnosis.
4.8-5.3 mm long (mean = 4.96 mm; n = 5); 2.18-2.41 × as long as wide. This species can be diagnosed by the larger size; and a pair of large spines on basal 1/3 of declivity.
Similar species.
Distribution.
Indonesia (Sumatra), East & West Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam.
Host plants.
The species has been recorded only from trees of the family Dipterocarpaceae ( Balanocarpus , Dipterocarpus , Dryobalanops , Hopea , Shorea , Vatica ) ( Browne 1961a, c).
Remarks.
Browne (1961b) notes that broods tend to be small (from 8-18 individuals), and that the life cycle may be completed in 3-4 weeks.
