Filatima Busck, 1939 View in CoL View at ENA

Filatima Busck, 1939: 575 View in CoL . Type species: Gelechia serotinella Busck, 1903 View in CoL , by original designation.

Diagnosis. Filatima is diagnosed by the presence of ocelli, the recurved labial palpus having a brush of modified scales beneath the second segment, and the relatively broad hindwing with slightly excavated termen. The male genitalia are characterized by having an uncus with small lateral lobes, a curved stout gnathos that is serrate on the inner margin, and a robust phallus not tapered and with extensions of phallus sheath and cornuti distally. The female genitalia are distinguishable by the very short ductus bursae with short spines on the inner wall.

Filatima is externally similar to Athrips Billberg, 1820 , Aroga Busck, 1914 , Stegasta Meyrick, 1904 and Chionodes Hübner, 1825 of the tribe Gelechiini . However, Aroga and Stegasta are absent of a gnathos, Athrips has a phallus dilated basally and distinctly tapered distally, and Chionodes has a slender phallus which is rod-shaped basally and wider distally.
