( Figs. 18–25 View FIGURES 18 – 25 )

Cyrtodiopsis plauta Yang and Chen, 1996: 466 View in CoL . Type locality: Yunnan: Menghai (Mengzhe) and Jinghong (Sanchahe); Guangxi: Baise.

Diagnosis. Wing with central band and preapical band connected centrally and with three hyaline spots between them; middle hyaline spot of cell r4+5 wide and nearly round. Cell r2+3 distinctly much narrower than cell r4+5 at widest point. Male fore femur without ventral incision at apex, tibia without ventral process at base. Scutellar spines long, about 2 times longer than scutellum, with only 4 long thin inner setulae.

Description. Male. Body length 4.7–5.0 mm, head width 4.1–4.5 mm, wing length 3.3–3.5 mm, wing width 1.0– 1.1 mm.

Head red brown with thin pale gray pollen, except ocellar tubercle dark brown, ptilinal suture black and broad apical parts of eye stalks black brown. Eye stalks slightly shorter than body, head width 0.9 times body length. Setulae on head short and brownish. 1 pair of black inner vertical seta strong and located at middle of stalks with a distinct tubercle; 1 pair of black outer vertical seta slightly thin. Antennae yellow brown; arista subapical, long, black. Proboscis yellow brown with brown setulae; palpus slender, brown.

Thorax red brown, with pale gray pollen. Setulae on thorax brownish. Scutellar spines long (0.71–1.12 mm), about 2 times longer than scutellum, and each only with 4 long thin inner setulae; apical seta long (about 1/2 as long as spine) and black. Legs red brown; apical 1/4 of mid and hind femora dark brown; tibiae (except extreme bases) and tarsi dark brown. Setulae on legs pale except tibiae and tarsi with mostly dark brown setulae. Fore femur 4 times longer than wide, 3 times thicker than fore tibia, with two rows of short black ventral tubercles (anterior row with 19–24 tubercles, posterior row with 15–22 tubercles). Male fore femur without ventral incision at apex, tibia without ventral process at base. Wings hyaline with four dark brown bands; median band and preapical band large and connected centrally and forming three hyaline spots between them; cell r2+3 distinctly much narrower than cell r4+5 at widest point; middle hyaline spot of cell r4+5 wide and nearly round. Halter whitish.

Abdomen clavate, basally constricted, apically swollen; tergite 6 narrow and tergite 7 invisible in dorsal view. Abdomen red brown with pale gray pollen, but dorsally black apically; tergite 4 with two pale gray lateral patches at base. Male genitalia ( Figs. 22–25 View FIGURES 18 – 25 ): Epandrium semiglobular, with postero-lateral angle somewhat acute in lateral view, without distinct setae; surstylus rather long, about 3.5 times longer than wide, apically curved downward in lateral view. Cerci subtriangular in posterior view, about 2 times longer than wide, without long setae. Aedeagal apodeme with anterior arm broadening anteriorly in lateral view, 1.7 times as long as posterior arm.

Female. Body length 4.3–5.0 mm, head width 3.0–4.0 mm, wing length 2.8–3.3 mm, wing width 1.0– 1.1 mm. Similar to male, but eye stalk slightly short, head width 0.7–0.8 times body length; tergite 6 wider and tergite 7 partly visible in dorsal view.
