Remarks. Brachymetopus strzeleckii was placed within the subgenus Br. (Brachymetopella) Kobayashi & Hamada 1978 by Gandl (1987), based on Hahn & Hahn’s (1985) classification. The subgenus Br. (Brachymetopella) was originally erected on the apparent absence of basal glabella lobes. However, Engel & Morris (1992) noted that basal lobes are found on juveniles of the type species, Br. (Brachymetopella) akiyoshiensis Kobayashi & Hamada 1978 , and are obscured by strong nodular ornament in adults. Thus, Engel & Morris (1992) considered Brachymetopella a junior synonym of the subgenus Brachymetopus .
