Type locality (corrected). Branco River , near its mouth in the Negro River, state of Roraima, Brazil.

Bionomics. The larvae of the Sa. glaucodaemon have been found mainly in tree holes and the axils of Montrichardia arborescens (aninga) ( Araceae ) ( Lane & Cerqueira 1942), but they have also been collected in a bamboo stump in association with Aedes (Stegomyia) albopictus ( Skuse, 1895) and Limatus durhamii Theobald, 1901 ( Stein et al. 2020). The type, an adult female, was collected in shade in a forest in the early morning ( Bequaert 1926). We collected females frequently feeding on human blood at ground level in forest during the daytime (Coleção de Culcidae 2023).

Arbovirus infection records. This species is considered a potential vector of the YFV in Brazil ( Roberts et al. 1981).
