Type locality. Boracéia Field Station , Salesópolis, São Paulo, Brazil.

Bionomics. Immature stages of this species develop in bamboo internodes ( Prado 1935; Heinemann & Belkin 1979) where they were found associated with Cx. ( Car .) iridescens , Sa. (Pey.) aurescens , Shannoniana fluviatilis ( Theobald, 1903) , a species of Shannoniana , Tr. pallidiventer , a species of Toxorhynchites (Lynchiella) and a species of Wyeomyia (Wyeomyia) ( Harbach 1994) . In the present study, one female was collected biting a human at ground level in forest in the daytime ( Coleção de Culicidae 2023).

Arbovirus infection records. None.

Occurrence in Brazil. States of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais *, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo ( Cardoso et al. 2005; Anjos & Navarro-Silva 2008; Müller et al. 2008; Tissot & Navarro-Silva 2008; Abreu et al. 2019; Stanzani et al. 2023).

Occurrence in other countries. Colombia ( Wilkerson et al. 2021).
