Type locality. Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago.
Bionomics. Immature stages of this species develop in water accumulated in cut or broken bamboo internodes ( Lane & Cerqueira 1942). Females have been collected mostly with human landing catch and opossum bait in the Atlantic Forest at ground level ( Guimarães et al. 1985, 1987).
Arbovirus infection records. None.
Occurrence in Brazil. States of Acre, Amapá *, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Maranhão *, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima * and São Paulo ( Lane & Cerqueira 1942; Lane 1953; Guimarães & Arlé 1984; Guimarães et al. 1985, 1987; Forattini et al. 1986b; Guimarães & Victório 1986; Xavier et al. 1989; Hutchings et al. 2005; Anjos & Navarro-Silva 2008; Tissot & Navarro-Silva 2008; Gomes et al. 2010 (as Sa. undosus / fabricii / ignotus ); Moreno et al. 2011; Stein et al. 2012; Mascheretti et al. 2013; Mucci et al. 2015; Santos et al. 2015; Abreu et al. 2019; Cunha et al. 2019; Stanzani et al. 2023).
