Type species: Alysia tristis Nees, 1834 .

Diagnosis. Head large, width of head in dorsal view greater or equal across eyes and temples. Frons, vertex and temples mostly smooth and strongly shining with fine pubescence. Mandible with three or four teeth, upper tooth strongly or slightly expanded on its apex, third tooth not or only weakly angulate. Notauli absent or extending to anterior half of the mesoscutum. Mesoscutum smooth or mostly smooth, with sparse to dense setae. Precoxal suture absent or present. Metapleuron smooth or very weakly sculptured. Propodeum smooth to evenly rugose. Wing with elongate pterostigma and short vein 1-R1, subdiscal cell closed or open distally. First tergite smooth to rugose. Ovipositor usually short, no more than length of hind tarsus.
