Barsine robusta View in CoL sp. n.
( Figs 24, 25 View FIGURES 18–25 , 35 View FIGURES 33–35 , 41 View FIGURES 36–41 )
Type material. Holotype ( Figs 24 View FIGURES 18–25 , 35 View FIGURES 33–35 ): male, “ Thailand | Changwat Nan | 5 km of Bo Luang | 1000 m, 18. VIII. 1999 | leg. T. Csővári & L. Mikus ” / “Genitalpräparat | Heterocera | Nr. 35.659 | Museum Witt München” (MWM/ ZSM).
Paratypes: 1 female, same data as for the holotype, gen. prep. No.: MWM 35.660 (prepared by Volynkin) (MWM/ ZSM) ; 2 females, Thailand, Changwat Nan, 6 km N of Bo Luang , 1050m, 19.VIII.1999, T. Csővári & L. Mikus leg. (MWM/ ZSM).
Diagnosis. The forewing length is 19.0 mm in the holotype male and 24.5–25.0 mm in females. Barsine robusta sp. n. is distinguished from the similar congeners in the larger size, the more robust body, the somewhat broader forewing, and the deeper pale red female hindwing. Compared to B. striata and B. evrys sp. n., the valva of the new species is longer (in proportion to the tegumen-uncus complex) and somewhat down curved distally (directed distally in the congeners), and has a more medially convex dorsal margin with a denticle-like distal costal process directed dorsally (absent in the congeners), a broader and extremely short distal lobe, and a shorter and thinner, spike-like distal saccular process directed ventrally. Additionally, the medial costal process of B. robusta sp. n. is proximally broader than in B. striata and B. evrys sp. n. The phallus of the new species is similar to that of B. evrys sp. n. and B. striata . The vesica of B. robusta sp. n. is similar to that of B. evrys sp. n. but is slightly narrower, and differs in the large lateral lobe of the 1 st medial diverticulum, the smaller cornuti on the 2 nd medial diverticulum, and the distally narrower 3 rd medial diverticulum. Compared to B. striata , the vesica of the new species is longer and broader and has a larger 1 st medial diverticulum with a larger lateral lobe, smaller cornuti on the 2 nd medial diverticulum, a broader 3 rd medial diverticulum bearing larger cornuti basally, and a broader 5 th medial diverticulum bearing larger cornuti. In the female genitalia of B. robusta sp. n., the ductus bursae is the longest and the corpus bursae is the broadest in the species group (in proportion to the ovipositor size). The appendix bursae of the new species is similar to that of B. evrys sp. n. but is longer and basally broader. Additionally, the apophyses anteriores of B. robusta sp. n. are markedly longer than in B. evrys sp. n.
Distribution. North Thailand (Nan Province).
Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the robust body and the male genital capsule of the new species.
