Barsine laotiana View in CoL sp. n.

( Figs 54 View FIGURES 42–55 , 60 View FIGURES 60–63 )

Type material. Holotype ( Figs 54 View FIGURES 42–55 , 60 View FIGURES 60–63 ): male, “ Laos, prov. Khammouane, | Khoun Ngeun, Sala | Viewpoint , 480m, | 104°29’E; 18°10,7’N | 30.–31.V.2014 leg. K. Černý ” / “Slide | AV4705 ♂ | A. Volynkin ” (MWM/ ZSM, ex CKC). GoogleMaps

Diagnosis. The forewing length is 13.5 mm in the holotype male. The new species is superficially reminiscent of the unrelated B. bigamica ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 42–55 ) but is distinguished by the smaller size, the somewhat darker red pattern elements on the forewing, and the deeper pinkish hindwing ground colour. However, the male genitalia of B. laotiana sp. n. are fundamentally different from those of B. bigamica ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 60–63 ) in both, the genital capsule and the vesica structures, and are similar to B. pulchra . In the male genital capsule, the new species clearly differs from B. pulchra in the markedly longer lobes of the distal saccular process (in proportion to the valva length), and the somewhat broader tip of the medial costal process. The vesica structures of the two species are similar but in B. laotiana sp. n., the 2 nd medial diverticulum is broader (in proportion to the phallus size) and more rounded, the 3 rd medial diverticulum is slightly more elongate and bearing markedly smaller cornuti, and the 5 th medial diverticulum is somewhat broader and covered with more numerous cornuti.

The female is unknown.

Distribution. Central Laos (Khammouane Province).

Etymology. The species is named after the country of its known distribution.
